The use of a particular type of foundation depends on many things like the occasion, the skin type, the level of coverage required and many other things. But depending on skin type, it is recommended that Women with dry skinned should opt for liquid foundations and cream foundations. Here we describe on how to apply foundation cream on face.

How to apply foundation cream

What you will need:

1. Cream foundation
2. Makeup sponge

Step 1:

First of all, we need a clean base for our makeup. A clean and healthy skin makes any makeup look good and to achieve a healthy skin, always follow the cleansing toning moisturizing routine vigorously. Before applying the cream foundation, always follow the CTM routine and then pat your skin dry; Better leave it to dry naturally.

Step 2:

Apply primer if you have very oily skin or just need your makeup to stay longer. For those who want their makeup to last through the day, this is a must. A primer will make the base smooth for makeup application and will help the foundation to cling on to the skin better

Step 3:

Cream foundation is best applied with a damp makeup sponge so first dampen the sponge a bit. Now take the needed amount of foundation on your makeup sponge. If you have a triangle or square sponge, take the foundation on the edge of the sponge. Take small amounts each time so that you do not over apply.

Step 4:

First start off with the jaw line area and near the ears, use downward motions to apply it. Apply on both sides. Follow up with applying on the foreheads, the nose area , the chin and the neck area.

Step 5:

After applying the foundation, blend it in nicely on all over the face. Take special attention on the jaw line and hair line so that any harsh lines can be avoided.

Step 6:

Use your finger tips to gently dab all over the face. This helps to blend the makeup more with the help of the heat form the fingers.

Step 7:

Apply a layer of loose powder or translucent powder to finish the look and you will have matte perfect skin.

Blush is an important part of your daily makeup routine. It gives you a chiselled jaw look which makes your face appear slimmer and really contoured. A correct swipe of a perfect coloured blush can give you a perfect photogenic look.  

                              How to use blusher on face

A few basics before we start:

1. Select a colour of blush near to your skin complexion. If you are really pale then go for pinkish shades otherwise select peachy rosy shades as you move towards the tanned complexion of the shade scale. For an Indian fair complexion a light rosy blush suits the best while for an Indian tanned complexion a peachy shade is the best.

2. Do not use shimmer or glitter blush on the hollows of cheeks.
3. If you are applying a powder blush, do not apply directly over a foundation which has a powdery finish. It will just lead to blotchiness. Apply a moisturiser first. If you don’t want to apply a moisturiser, then apply a tinted moisturiser instead of a foundation directly and then use the powder blush on it.

For a cream blush, use it on a powdered compact base. It will lead to less blotchiness. You don’t need to worry about the foundation type too much in this case.

4. Avoid the use of finger tips, swabs, cotton balls or makeup sponges. Use a good quality blush brush. See that the bristles have a super satin soft feel to them.

How to apply blush on a round face

1. You must use blush on the smallest area between eye brows and the hairline. This will give a sleeker look of the forehead.

2. Suck your cheeks in and follow the contour of the cheek apples .Swipe very lightly in two to three strokes along the sides on the cheek apples starting from near the mouth point leaving about half an inch upto the point near the ear.

3. Blush not only contours the cheek but also sharpens your nose. Take the blush brush and in one single straight line along sides of the nose. Do the same on the opposite side Do not use over the nose bone. 

4. . Follow blushing as per the shown lines below. The one inch space at the two sides of the chin should be given one gentle swipe of the blush. Don’t use too much blush here. Use whatever is left on the brush.

5. Final contour lining should be as follows .

Blush should always be applied with light hands so that the redness gets mixed with your skin and should look natural.

6. This is totally optional but if you want a rosy touch to the cheek apples, then select another shade of blush, which is lighter than the shade you are using on to the contours and give a round swipe of this blush on to the cheek apples.

Tip: If you are using a cream blush, don’t forget to pat a little bit of compact gently after application for a satin smooth no-blotch finish. And your makeup is complete!

How To Apply A Compact Perfectly?

Makeup is never complete without having satin smooth texture on the skin. And this can be achieved only with the proper use of a compact or pressed powder or loose powder. We often apply compact powder or pressed powder very casually dabbing them all over the face. This invariably results in an uneven or cakey make up.

How To Apply Compact Powder

Things you will need:

1. Loose powder
2. A Pressed compact
3. A Big Brush
4. A small Brush
5. Your usual makeup stuff for lips, eyes, bronzer (optional) and blush.

Step1:

Start with a clean face. Use a moisturiser or sunscreen. Make sure that your face is clean and soft always before applying any makeup.

Step2:

Use a concealer on the face and eyelids. Blend it well with the finger tips or a brush in case you are using cream concealer.

Step3:

Use a foundation like you normally use. Blend it evenly all over face and neck.

Step4:

Now take the loose powder on the big brush and pat the excess off. Make sure you are not taking too much of powder on the brush. If you use too much powder and do not pat the excess from the brush then your foundation may become cakey and the texture of your skin will not be good especially if you have dry skin! Always use a cream foundation before using any type of powder on your skin. This will prevent the makeup from cracking.

Apply it all over the face in swipes over the nose bone, the cheeks, chin and the centre of the forehead swiping it towards the sides of the forehead. Blend it well.

Step5:

Apply your lip liner, lipstick and blush. Also don’t forget to give contour to the nose bone.

Step6:

Reapply a little bit of powder with a big brush over the blush to blend in properly. This gives a natural rosy appearance and doesn’t look streaky.

Step7:

Now take the pressed compact and dab it properly on all the contours like your interior eye corners, over the lid and below the lid.

Step8:

Complete your eye makeup. Now take the small brush dipped in the pressed powder .Use this on the sides of the eye and eye contours. Also use this over the nose bone too.

Your makeup is complete.  Check out the flawless, satin smooth texture of the skin, it should be silky soft to touch and feel.
