How To Make Lips Soft Before Applying Lipstick?

Lip makeup is necessary whether it be just application of lip gloss for a nude finish or for the application of a lipstick. But sometimes, lips are so chapped that the lipstick doesn’t look good after application. We wonder what went wrong with our makeup because most of us do not take much care of our lips on a regular basis or keep them moisturized.

When lips are cracked or chapped, your lipstick will make these cracks even more visible. So to avoid such an embarrassing situation, we need a solution for this problem.

how to make lips soft:

Things you will need:

  • A bowl of warm water
  • A used toothbrush
  • A Lotion or cream like nivea or anything similar
  • A lip balm
  • A cotton ball
  • Your regular foundation and concealer
  • Your choice of lip liner, lipstick and a gloss
toothbrush in hot water
Step 1:
Dip your used toothbrush in warm water for 2 minutes to make it softer. Use only a used tooth brush i.e. the toothbrush which you might be using daily. You must not use a hard and new toothbrush because it will erode the skin surface much more. A hard toothbrush will make your soft lip’s skin even more dry and painful later on. Use the tooth brush gently in circular motions to get rid of all the dry skin flakes.

Step 5:
You can now proceed to your normal application of concealer. Blend it well.

Step 6:
Use foundation on the lips with a lip brush. Blend this well too.

Step 7:
Now we must not forget that foundation has the tendency to dry the skin further. To stop it from drying the skin of the lips and especially if you have really cracked and dry lip condition, use some more cream on the lip surface. This time wait a while for the cream to get soaked well into the skin. Remove excess with a cotton ball or tissue paper.

Step 8:
Use your normal lip liner.
moisturising lipstick
Step 9:
Follow up with a moisturising lipstick. If you have dry lips, then use a moisturising lipstick. If however you want to use a matte effect lipstick, then also your lips will not get chapped because you have already double moisturised your lips before applying the lipstick.
lip gloss
Step 10:
Follow up with a lip gloss if you wish to use one.

Step 11:
So there you have your perfect, soft and supple lips. Say bye bye to embarrassing lip cracks and hello to kissable lips.

How To Apply Lipstick Perfectly?

Many a times we think we are applying Lipstick the right way, surprisingly it’s not true. When we apply it the wrong way, it leads to smudging, caking, leaving of a residue etc. Let us learn how to apply it correctly.
Remember, not applying a Lip balm or a Lip liner before applying lipstick is a crime to your lips because it leaves them dry and causes caking of your lipstick.

Tips On How To Apply Lipstick Perfectly:

  • Understand your Lips: Understand which lipstick shades and brands suit your lips. Also consider your skin tone when selecting the lipstick colour.

1. Fair Skin:

Go for those light nude, icy pink, pastels, light peach, fuchsia, bright red, orange red or coral. These shades will enhance your skin tone and you’ll surely stand out among your friends.

2. Moderate Skin:

3. Dark Skin:

Lipstick for dark skin You should check out one of those bright colours like deeper brown, all metallic (bronze and gold mixes), pink, deeper peach tones, bright fuchsia, all reds (if your skin has a golden-yellow tone, try avoiding orange reds), deeper wine reds, deep eggplant and purple.
  • Apply a lip balm or a lip conditioner. Apply a lip liner if needed. This helps to create a foundation so that the lipstick can blend well and last longer. Also use a liner if you have thin lips as it will make the lips appear plumper.

Look at the images below and follow through the procedure.
1. Start applying lipstick carefully from one corner to the other ensuring that you go along the outline of your lips.  Start with the Upper lip .
2. Use the same process on the Lower lip too .
3. Apply another Coat if desired but remember this can make the lips greasy. So only apply another coat if you feel the lipstick has not been applied properly. You can use a Lip gloss to add Shine/Gloss if required.

How To Apply Lipgloss Perfectly – Steps

Every girl loves to have shiny and glossy feel to her lips and there is nothing better than a lip gloss that can help her achieve this. So today we will show you how to perfectly use a lip-gloss for two of the most desired looks
A. Nude Glossy Lips
B. Bold and Bright Glossy Lips with Lipstick.
To begin with, follow these basic steps:

Basic Step 1:

Moisturise your lips for a smoother lipstick application. If you have dead skin cells or chapped cracked lips, then after using a moisturising lotion on your lips, wait for 1minute and then with a cotton swab clean the lips to remove the dead skin cells. Moisturise once more.

Basic Step 2:

Use a Lip balm if your lips are very dry. You can also apply a little bit of foundation with your finger tips very evenly. This will help your lipstick Last longer on your lips

Basic Step 3:

Apply a liner that is close to your lip’s colour but just a bit darker. For nuder feel, you can use a liner such as mauve or light pink which is lighter than your lip’s natural colour. Here I am using a maroon lip liner for a less nude look.

Start from one corner and follow the natural curvature of your lips. Do the same with the upper lips also. Apply lip liner perfectly as well. Refer to the pictures below.

A. Nude Lips:

Step 1.  Filling With Gloss:

Start with bottom lips on any one corner and drag the sponge applicator along the length of the lips slowly. Do the same with the top lips, starting from one corner and following the curvature of your lip’s natural shape. Do not go overboard your natural lip line or lip border. You can use a lip gloss from a tube too, but then use it with your finger tips rather than using directly from the tube mouth. I have however, used my favourite gloss which is Colorbar Star Shine Lip Gloss.

Step 2. Smudging & Blotting:

Press lips against one another to smudge the lip liner and the gloss, for a more natural looking effect. Blot the excess on a tissue. If you see any excess sticking out on sides after this, then use a cotton swab to clean the excess without disturbing your hard work. With the completion of the blotting stage, your nude or natural looking lip gloss is now perfectly applied.

B. Bold and Bright Glossy Lips

Step 1. Applying Lipstick:

If you are to wear a Lipstick, then wear it after Basic Step 3 Liner Application. Press lips against one another after lipstick application for a smoother finish and blot the excess on a tissue.

Step 2. Fill the Gloss:

Just like the above mentioned process, fill up with gloss starting from one end and dragging along the natural curvature of lips to the other corner. Do the same for the upper lips too. Now since you have already blotted excess lipstick, you may not need to blot the excess lip-gloss in this case. If however you feel your lip-gloss is a too thick, then you can blot a little bit on a tissue for your own perfect comfort and smoothness.
